OVERVIEW: We designed the Flagstaff with the inclement weather of Colorado's shoulder seasons in mind. Ideally suited for long cool or windy days in the saddle when you will most likely not be shedding layers, the Flagstaff is indeed, packable into a jersey pocket. A streamlined fit and performance-driven minimalism combined with wind and water resistant fabric ensures a performance fit and protection from light rain, road spray and wind. While breathability is achieved through the BreatheLite mesh fabric across the back and underarms, it also means this jacket was not designed for heavy rain and extremely wet conditions. Two rear entry, magnetically closing pass-through openings allow for easy access to a jersey pocket access. We've also opted for a locking zipper not only prevent zipper slip, but when the zipper tab is flipped up to the open position you can pull the jacket open, making it easy to vent when wearing gloves. Added visibility in low-light conditions is comes by way of the Reflective Technology (RT) waistband.
"Over the last few seasons we have been consistently impressed with the clothing coming out of Colorado based Pactimo and the Flagstaff RT Jacket is another piece seeing heavy rotation here at Peloton. The collar is tall. The fit is dialed for layering in an aggressive position and it stows easily in a jersey pocket."
"The low-profile Flagstaff RT jacket is deceptively warm, protecting you from the weather while also allowing you to vent extra heat up during long climbs or winter efforts. I especially appreciate the pass-through openings in the lower back, which give me easy access to my jersey pockets, and have magnetic closures to stay put when not in use. Layered with Pactimo’s Thermoregulator Short Sleeve Base Layer and a long-sleeve jersey, this jacket keeps me nice and warm down to temperatures in the 30s."
WHY FLAGSTAFF? Boulder’s infamous Flagstaff Mountain climb is one of our favorites. The east facing steeps and switchbacks are often one of the first in Boulder to melt after a storm, making it an ideal climb throughout the cool mornings and stormy afternoons of the spring and fall. With an average gradient of 11%, your heartrate and body temperature increase rapidly on the ascent and cool quickly on the way down. We designed the Flagstaff for this exact situation with wind/water protection across the front and leading edges and a mesh jersey weight fabric in the back and underarm for breathability and temperature regulation.
FABRICS & CONSTRUCTION: The ClimaStretch fabric through the front body, sleeves and sides of the Flagstaff provide wind-stopping and waterproof protection. Not simply protecting you from the elements, the stretchable fabric creates an unrestrictive next-to-body fit reducing that infamous flapping sound in high-speed descending. Built for all-day use, the BreatheLITE mesh throughout the back and under the arms regulates changes in temperature as you climb, descent and spin across long flat roads. Gusseted cuffs provide warmth by creating a better seal from the wind with your gloves and wrists on descents.
